Anjanam

Herbal collyrium, Anjanam, involves applying medicated collyrium to the inner margin of the eyelids. This treatment is used to enhance vision, prevent eye diseases, and alleviate symptoms like itching and burning sensations. It also helps in removing foreign bodies from the eyes. After application, it should not be washed or rubbed immediately to ensure maximum efficacy.

Tarpanam

Tarpanam involves creating an enclosure around the eyes using black gram flour and pouring lukewarm medicated oil or ghee into it for a specified duration. This treatment is beneficial for burning sensation in the eyes, myopia, subconjunctival hemorrhage, eye stiffness, dry eye syndrome, corneal ulcers, clouding and watering of the eyes, falling of eyelashes, Bell's palsy, myasthenia gravis, and stroke.

Karnapoorana

Karnapoorana involves filling the ears with medicated oil or ghee. The ear lobes are gently massaged with oil, and lukewarm, purified medicated oil is gently poured into one ear. This ancient Ayurvedic therapy soothes and cures various ear-related problems.

Akshisekam

Akshisekam involves the continuous streaming of medicated decoctions over the eyes. This therapy is designed to strengthen eye muscles, relax the eyes, and improve vision.

Kavala/ kabala

Kavala, also known as Kabala, involves the procedure of applying medicated collyrium to the inner margin of the eyelids. Bidalakam

Bidalakam involves applying a medicated paste around the outer eyelids, avoiding the eyelashes. The medication is absorbed by the skin, reaching the subcutaneous tissues and reducing local temperature. It also enters the systemic circulation, helping to prevent edema, congestion, and other related issues.

Karnavasti

Karnavasti involves creating a ring or compartment around the ears using black gram flour, which is then filled with lukewarm oil for a specified duration. This treatment aims to soothe and treat ear-related issues effectively.

Pindi

In the Pindi procedure, medicinal herbs are wrapped in cloth and placed over the eyelid, with or without a bandage.

The kizhi contains Shastika or Navara rice cooked in milk and kashaya. Patra Pinda Sweda

Patra Pinda Sweda is a therapeutic treatment using a herbal concoction made from medicinal leaves. These leaves are chopped, mixed with medicated oils, and placed in a cloth to create a fist-sized kizhi or linen bundle. The kizhi is then applied to disease-affected areas, either on the full body or a specific part, depending on the patient's symptoms. This treatment helps alleviate various conditions and promotes overall well-being.

Kayasekam

Kayasekam involves pouring lukewarm medicated oil over the body in a continuous, rhythmic manner. It is highly effective for treating rheumatic diseases, arthritis, paralysis, sexual weakness, neurological disorders, high blood pressure, and nervous weakness. Additionally, Kayasekam helps to slow down the aging process.

Panchakarma

Vamana

Vamana, or Emesis Therapy, involves controlled, medically induced vomiting to eliminate excess Kapha Dosha. This treatment is not recommended for children, the elderly, pregnant women, or individuals with tuberculosis or hepatitis. Prior to the treatment, both internal and external oleation are performed using medicated ghee or oil. The patient follows a special diet, avoids loud speech and sunlight, and ensures adequate rest after the treatment.

Virechana

Virechana, or Purgation Therapy, uses herbal laxatives to eliminate toxins and expel excess Pitta Dosha from the body. Before the treatment, both internal and external oleation are performed with medicated ghee or oil. The patient adheres to a special diet, avoids loud speech and sunlight, and ensures adequate rest after the treatment.

Vasti

Vasti (Enema) treatments effectively cure Vata ailments and eliminate toxins from the lower gastrointestinal tract, while also strengthening the nervous system. There are two types of Vasti treatments: Niruha Vasti and Anuvasana Vasti, administered based on the patient's condition and treatment requirements.

  • Anuvasana Vasti: Enema therapy using medicated oils. It revitalizes the colon, where Vata primarily resides.

  • Niruha Vasti: Uses a special herbal decoction called kashaya, hence also known as Kashaya Vasti. This differs from Anuvasana Vasti primarily in its use of herbal decoctions.

Raktamoksham

Raktamoksham is a blood purification therapy that involves bloodletting to eliminate toxic materials from the body and restore equilibrium. This therapy is carried out through methods such as leeching, venesection, and needle pricking.

Nasyam

Nasyam involves instilling medicaments into the nose to treat conditions of the head and neck region. This therapy effectively addresses headaches, nasal allergies, sinusitis, and frequent common cold attacks. It is also beneficial in preventing hair fall and greying of hair.

Sthanika

Kativasti

Kativasti involves placing a dough well made from black gram flour over the lower back and filling it with warm medicated oil. The oil is maintained at a specific temperature for a set period. This treatment helps decrease stiffness, improve muscle and tissue elasticity, ease muscle spasms, and increase the range of motion. The increased blood flow can also help reduce pain

Prishta Vasti

Prishta Vasti involves retaining warm medicated oil inside an herbal paste boundary along the spine. This specialized Ayurvedic therapy is used to treat various ailments, including musculoskeletal disorders like ankylosing spondylitis, post-trauma conditions, spinal cord diseases, katishoola (back pain), chronic backache, degenerative spine changes, compressed discs and spinal nerves, and osteoporosis.

Greeva Vasti

Greeva Vasti involves creating a dough ring from black gram flour, placed over the back of the neck. Lukewarm medicated oil is slowly poured into the ring, which is then replaced as it cools. After the procedure, the dough is removed, and a gentle massage is given. This therapy relaxes and rejuvenates the bones and muscles of the neck and shoulders, improves flexibility and smooth movement, and enhances circulation in the neck and shoulder region. It is effective for conditions like cervical spondylosis, cervical disc lesions, tingling and numbness in the hands, compression fractures, chronic neck pain, and frozen shoulder.

Janu Vasti

Janu Vasti involves creating a compartment from black gram flour dough around the knee. Warm herbal oils are poured into this pocket and left to seep into the joint tissues. This process lubricates the joints, providing comfort, relaxation, and reducing inflammation and pain. It strengthens the joint structures, alleviates stiffness and pain, and protects the knee from further damage due to age or overuse. Improved blood circulation to the region enhances mobility and nourishment of the knee joint.

Shirolepa

Application of medicated paste on the head. Also known as Thalapothichil.Effective in various psychosomatic disorders. It falls in the category of cooling treatments, scalp disorders, neurological disorders etc.

Shirovasti

Shirovasti is an Ayurvedic procedure in which medicated oils are poured and retained on the head using an elongated cap or bandage for a prescribed period of time.

Shiropichu

Shiropichu meaning a swab or sterile cotton pad or a sterile cloth dipped in medicated oils. Shiropichu is soaked cotton pad kept on the head to relieves headache and migraine, Induces sleep, Improves memory, Decreases stiffness in neck and eye strain. Treats psychological as well as neurological disorders
